Susan A. Martin
Dr. Martin was born in Nashua, New Hampshire.
Her family moved around a lot so she also has lived in Blacksburg,
Virginia, East Lansing, Michigan, and Tifton, Georgia. She is
married to Doug Martin and has two daughters, Madeline and Lillian.
She graduated from the University of Tennessee, with a master’s
degree in biochemistry, in 1987. She did undergraduate work at the
University of North Alabama. After her undergraduate work she went
to vet school at University of Tennessee College of Veterinary
Medicine. From there she went to Scott-Ritchey Research Center at
Auburn University’s College of veterinary medicine. While she
worked full-time at Auburn University she also worked part-time at
the Animal Health Center in Columbus and the Animal Emergency
Center, also in Columbus. After eleven years at Auburn University
she decided to focus on a private house call practice, Creature
Comforts. While she worked as a vet for her own business she was
also a relief vet at Wayside Animal Hospital. Eventually, she got
the chance to buy Wayside. So she did.
